Face App Trend ! Their Privacy Policy.

FaceApp is a mobile application for iOS and Android operating systems developed by Wireless Lab (a Russian company) which uses neural network technology to automatically generate highly realistic transformations of faces in photographs. The app can transform a face to make it smile, look younger, look older, or change gender. It has also many amazing filters. The best thing is that it is free for all.

FaceApp first went viral in 2017, but with many updates since then, the technology has become even more realistic, causing it to go viral once again. People are uploading their old face photos on social media and the trend is getting popular day by day.

Snapchat‘s gender swap filter also caught the attention of many individuals from across borders but many people don’t use snapchat so faceapp is an easy way for them to do magic with their photos & it is easy than snapchat + you don’t need to create any account for using faceapp.

Faceapp is very easy to use, you only need to download it on your android or ios device. There are two options for you to select your photos you can either link your Facebook to get images or use the images in your gallery. After that, you only need to select filters which you will find on the bottom menu of Face App. You can see the below screen shot.

FaceApp is available for both on the Google Play Store as well as the Apple Store.

You simply have to search for FaceApp in the search bar of your app store. You will find it with FaceApp Inc listed as the developers. Once found you can simply click on install.

Privacy Concerns Of FaceApp :

Face App is developed by a Russian company. Users have been surprised to learn that the app’s creators are harvesting metadata from their photos.

When you select a photo for editing on Face App, the photo automatically saves on FaceApp’s server. Is this a thing to worry about? . We all use Facebook, Twitter, Whatsapp, etc they all store your photos on their server but the thing to worry about is that FaceApp belongs to Russia and they may use your photos for several bad things or they may sell your data.

Yaroslav Goncharov, an ex-Yandex exec and CEO of the Russian company that created the app, previously told The Verge that photos uploaded to the app are stored on the company’s servers to save bandwidth if several filters are applied and that they get deleted not long after. FaceApp says no user data is transferred to Russia

Of course, we don’t know if FaceApp actually deletes the photo data.

Another potential privacy issue people have taken note of is that the company’s privacy policy incorporates broad language that allows it to use people’s usernames, names, and likeness for commercial purposes. Lawyer Elizabeth Potts Weinstein also says the policy isn’t GDPR-compliant. Still, while this isn’t great, users often agree to wide-ranging policies that specifically use abstract language (a great way to avoid a lawsuit!). And they have no say in the matter; either they use the service or they don’t. FaceApp says it doesn’t sell user data to third parties.

FaceApp might not be a major privacy concern, but as with any app, there are always tradeoffs. People should think about how their data is being used before sharing it with an unknown app.
